Yes, the openSPOT1 is supported until the end of 2019.

Im sorry but this is wrong
so basically our devices will be rendered useless
if this is the case there is no reason for anyone to buy any of your products if they arent supported every time you release a new product, this move surely will pass around the ham community
Im sorry , take your $$ and run is all you have done with this then

Why do you say they will be rendered useless? They will still work as before. Just there will be no more FW updates. The protocols to the servers will still be the same...
But I reiterate the request: Please at least open/document the bootloader for custom firmwares, or (best case) opensource the old firmware, so we could support ourselves after 2019. You have nothing to loose, just gain prestige.

Nothing will be rendered useless. As YO2LOJ wrote, all devices will continue to work.

An Open Source Project after end of official support would be quite nice after a lot of
people changed from DV4mini to OpenSpot due to the fact that the developer was not able to write at least a mmdvm cross driver for further use. A second situation like this with OpenSpot 1 will harm believing in ham spirit....

A lot of commitments from the side of SharkRF have not been realised.
I have already submitted a request for wires-X some 2 years ago.
Each time they came up with the answer they were planning, but did not know yet when.
There has been absolutely nothing done with the requested additions.
Especially now that they have released the OpenSPOT 2.
Now we can completely forget new additions.
Sure they have made some commitments, which they do not realize with the advent of the 2nd version.
Each time they came up with the answer they were planning, but did not know yet when.
The developers of SharkRF may say that they offer support until the end of 2019, but that only applies to errors and not to the previously promised additions.
With the release of the openSPOT2 they stopped selling the 1st version. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think so.
Do you know where they are good at SharkRF ?
Replying to requests with "We do intend to add this, but do not know yet when". So openSPOT users, if they give such an answer, forget it.
All they have in mind is to convince you to purchase a openSPOT2.
Many users like me are 100% incapacitated and have to come out of a small income and then the open Spot 2 has no added value at all.
Especially when you have to spend €200 again because the developers of SharkRF do not honour their earlier promises.
I continue to find it very unfortunate.
This story will undoubtedly be persecuted.

We do not want Wires X on the openspot. Also the openspot 1 works just fine. No more firmware updates. It works perfectly fine. if someone wants advanced features buy an openspot 2.

I'm also not happy at all with this.

It's difficult to even find the original openSPOT product page to look for new firmware. There used to be updates nearly monthly and then everything ceased in July. Yet the openSPOT2 changelog shows lots of enhancements which appear to not be hardware specific. This gives me the impression that "support" already stopped months ago.

I think the openSPOT* is the best product in this space but the original (with Ethernet) better suits my needs and if you're not going to stand behind it for a longer period of time I'm hesitant to even consider investing in future models.
