Holbert, FYI. My New Years Wish. And of course internal Wifi.
I posted this on the Brandmeister 3148 facebook page.
Hello fellow HOTSPOTERS
I have received several e-mails recently in regards to an amp that I have been using on my Hotspots. There has been various postings on several of the Facebook pages.
So here is the scoop:
I am using a P8X from D2FQ in Germany. Web site: http://www.df2fq.de. I have 2 of them. One on a Bluestack and one on an Openspot. The amps work really great. I can hear my hotspots at home for 6 - 7 miles. 2 antennas up 30/40 ft. That's all I have tested. The problem is the Hotspots have very poor receive sensitivity and can only hear me from about 1 1/2 miles away. 5 watts or 45 watts. (Using DMR).
My goal was to have Hotspots at home that I could use within about a 5 mile radius. Since Most of my driving/errands are within that 5 miles. I didn't want to worry about jumping in the car for shorts trips and messing with the Verizone Jetpack and using my data minutes. I was using this configuring in my D-Star days and was able to Xmit and receive out about 10 miles. That was an entirely different configuration using a RPI.
So, I am partially there . But until someone comes up with a hotspot with better receive sensitivity I am very limited in my quest for the perfect all around Hotspot.
Hope this helps others out.
If anyone has any suggestion it would be greatly appreciated.

Re: The perfect Hotspot
I have not made any adjustments to Openspot. I will take a look at it. TY
Re: The perfect Hotspot
Please tell me where in openSpot menu is possible to set up receive sensitivity.
I have only found where one can change the tx power output (default is at max, about 20 mW).

Modem page, other settings block. Advanced mode needs to be turned on.

Re: The perfect Hotspot
I tried the sensitivity settings with my P8X amps. I did not notice much difference if any using
settings 1 and 3. May be a little help but not much. The openspot can hear me abt 2 miles away.
