User-specified DMR Homebrew/MMDVM server address

Post by VE3XEJ »

Greetings! A while back I wrote software to allow using a PiStar hotspot and a DMR handheld as a remote control to trigger commands based on the talkgroup (https://github.com/securityguy/DMRcmd). PiStar has an option that can support multiple DMR servers and send traffic to the right one based on TG, but so far there isn't an easy way to do the same with an openSpot.

Would you please consider adding a feature that allows the user to enter an IP address or FQDN of a custom homebrew/MMDVM server (instead of choosing one from the dropdown list) so that we can integrate openSPOT with other services?

As an example, this would allow us to have openSPOT send DMR traffic to a proxy, which could in turn forward selected traffic to BrandMeister, etc.

Thank you for your consideration!

I should also credit Jonathan Naylor G4KLX, the author of DMR Gateway (https://github.com/g4klx/DMRGateway). Allowing a user-specified DMR server should allow it to be used with openSPOT as well.

Enable Advanced mode at the bottom right of the web interface, and then the server address (and port) fields will be shown, where you can enter custom server addresses.

That is awesome. Thank you very much! For anyone interested, I've updated the instructions for https://github.com/securityguy/DMRcmd and now I have some more work to do!
