I have an openSpot3 and it is working fine with my iPhone X. Now that I upgraded to iPhone 12 Pro, openSpot3 wont connect. It keeps saying, "openSpot trying to connect Wi-Fi network!" I removed my SIM card from iPhone 12 Pro and put it back to iPhone X, and it connected. iPhone X and iPhone 12 Pro have the same settings. Wi-Fi password and iPhone name are the same. Need help!

Well, I finally was able to make it work. I went to AT&T (my carrier) and get a new SIM card to enable 5G on my new iPhone 12 Pro. After they replaced my SIM card, on the way home, I tried to connect to my openSpot3, and guess what, it connected! Problem solved!

Go to settings.
Then personal hotspot
Press on your password then hit done.
This will activate your connection.
Weird huh. Fix for iPhone 12 Pro Max

I have an iPhone 12 Pro Max with similar connection issues. OS3 connects to home wifi no problem every time but will not connect to iPhone hotspot and neither will it "see" the hotspot when I scan for wifi networks on the OS3 web interface. Strangely it does "see" my girlfriend's iPhone 11 hotspot though.....makes no sense
So I went to AT&T store today and explained the issue best I could. They said changing the sim has nothing to do with that. They said the could do it no problem but I opted not to do so. Everything in my account checked out and of course they were able to "see" my iPhone hotspot in the store.
Why did you have to activate your 5G and what did the SIM card have to do with that? Just curious as none of this is making sense. My iPhone 12 Pro max came with 5G already working and I thought thats how they were designed.
I love this device and just want it to work on my iPhone hotspot so I can use it out of the house!
Just frustrated and it seems my iPhone 12 Pro and OS3 don't mix for some reason but it doesn't make sense why other devices can be seen but my iPhone cannot and other devices can see my iPhone but OS3 cannot.

Please turn on the "Maximize compatibility" on the iPhone's hotspot settings page.

HA2NON I'm glad I searched for this issue and found this answer. My OS4 Pro was not seeing my phone's hotspot until I turned on Maximize Compatability. Thank you. This forum is quite helpful.

Norbert,
Thank you so much!!! That worked! I've seen that slider ln the hotspot settings but never thought to try that......man I feel not very smart, lol!

I noticed that after replacing my old iPhone (which connected in a snap) with my new iPhone with IOS14.3, the connecting and re-connecting was horrible. I tried everything I could think of and finally noticed in the settings for “Personal Hotspot” the “Maximize Capability” was switched off. After turning back on, connections are now super fast. For whatever reason, Apple defaulted this off.

I have tried all of the above…enabled Maximize Compatibility, made sure that the iPhone’s hotspot panel is open…and still nothing works. My OS3 simply will not connect to my iPhone.

I have and Iphone 12 Pro and had the same problems, the openspot wouldn't even see the iphone until I turned OFF the feature to connect automaticly to the iphone12 that solved the issue for me now the iphone shows when scanning for wifi networks, I click on it and I enter the password and everything worked. Good luck
