OpenSpot 4 pro battery life

Could you please tell us the secret of 30 hr battery life on 4Pro. I can only get it to last approx 8-9 hrs, using no bell, lowest output power and only listening.
Also, with the limited battery warranty: How do we get a new battery, and how do we open the box without breaking the 3 year warranty-

Hi Arne... I am also working with a new OPENSPOT 4 PLUS...and noticing the same issue. Even when leaving the unit to time out to null connector and standalone, I find I get about 3 hours per full charge. I will keep trying to figure this one out as I am a NEW DSTAR / DMR user and want to be able to count on a day worth of field activity on the OS4Plus. 73 de VE3MGQ

Please make sure to charge the battery full. If the battery is fully charged then the charge LED is constantly green and the charging status displays "ready".

You'll need a charger with at least 1500mA of supply current capacity in order to fast charge the unit while it's in use. You can check the currently detected charger current limit by looking at the "USB current limit" field at the openSPOT4 info section on the Status page.

The length of the discharge time is affected by a lot of things. The battery will discharge faster if:

The device is transmitting or receiving
There's traffic on the connected Wi-Fi network (even if the traffic is not to/from the openSPOT4)
Wi-Fi signal quality
Cross mode is used
Web interface is opened

You'll be able to purchase battery replacements kits for the OS4 like for the OS3 sometime later.

I have the same problem. The battery life is terrible. 6-8 hours max. This needs a much larger battery. How about an extended battery kit? Larger capacity, a larger one with a different back to accommodate the thicker battery.

11/12 Update: I took it out today for the first time and had it in a profile that D-Star/DMR and max power set. I would be out for about 3 hours and had one QSO about 5 minutes long. When I returned home, the SO4 was beeping with a low battery warning. I plugged in the power adapter. With the power adapter plugged in it shows 54% unplugged, about 12%. Is this normal? If it is, that is fine. This unit is just a few days old, and if there is a problem, I want to make sure and address it.

It looks like the battery is a Polymer Lithium-Ion rated at 1300 mAh.

I bought a case and I will try a power bank rated at 10,000 mAh and see how much longer it runs.
