ac4h Periodically, I will log into my OS4P and notice in the that the API key field is blank. Is this expected? Thanks and 73 de AC4H, Sean
ac4h Tyrbiter so is the implication that the api key is only used for actions taken in the browser and not any ongoing/periodic interactions with brandmeister? It would make sense if that is the case since the key would only live aas long as the browser session.
Tyrbiter ac4h I think that's how it works, the key is used to authenticate requests, once that is happened any further changes require reauthentication which is done by making a browser connection again, the device running the browser stores the key unless something goes wrong and the cache is flushed.
ac4h Thanks, this is making more sense now. The documentation is not very clear for a newcomer to brandmeister, bit the manager in the openspot UI is just an interface to do some of the same functions that you would do inside the brandmeister.network device settings. Your response helped me to see what I was missing here so thanks again Tyrbiter
W4NMH OpenSpot3 never drops the API keys, so this is new Web GUI behavior in OpenSpot4. Waiting for HTTPS capabilities for OpenSpot4 Web GUI connectivity.
HA2NON The API key is stored in the device if it is a version1 key. v2 keys are stored in the browser. If the router changes the IP address assigned to the openSPOT then the browser will use a different local storage and the keys will be empty.
HA2NON Routers usually assign IP addresses based on the client's MAC address, so they usually don't change.
W4NMH HA2NON, only IF you have access to the Router and can statically assign. CellPhone HotSpots, not so much. Hotel Wi-Fi, nope Guest someone’s Wi-Fi, nope 🙁
