Hi, I got the OS4 pro configured. I can connect to the Dstar reflector, I can hear the audio from other station but no one can hear me. my internal mic is set up and I am a registered user on the Dstar network. Any help would be much appreciated

Please verify that your computer's microphone settings are correct. Test your settings with a server/network which has an echo service (BrandMeister servers, or REF001 module E or REF030 module E)

Thank you! the mic is setup in the audio settings of the mac but no audio is transmitted. I have tried the echo and nothing came back. I have tried another xlx reflector and the report was "no audio". When I transmit, the led of the OS4 doesn't change color, it stays green. I don't know what Ia ma missing. In the modem settings it says "idle". Where should I look next? Firewall? Port settings? By the way it is all working fine on the iPhone app...

The openSPOT4's status LED won't change if you transmit using the app. If your calls show up on the server dashboard or others see your calls then you don't have to look at the firewall, as it means (silent) voice data is going out. Check the microphone permissions in your operating system.

thank you. I spent 2 hours with Apple online support to solve the problem of permissions. All I was said is that the app should prompt for permission to use the microphone at install. There is no way to add it later. I am severely disappointed with the lack of support from Shark RF regarding that matter. Now considering returning the OS4 pro.

Where do you get lack of support from, they have replied to every post you made

I do appreciate your replies but no solution is offered

PJP22 Well, as someone who does not use Apple products, that is my own solution to these problems.

On my Android devices I can edit permissions for all applications individually, I don't understand why Apple wish to restrict their users' choices in the many and varied ways that they do.

true dat! their answer is : Apple has way more security than Windows... i almost laughed when the support team give me this reason for not being able to edit their OS.

PJP22 It's one thing to try to make your system secure, it's quite another to prevent it working at all in a way that is entirely reasonable to expect.

I don't know if SharkRF will be able to sort this out, if installing the app doesn't request mic/spkr audio permissions then it's either an error from the developer or it's an error from Apple.

I look forward to hearing from the developper regarding compatibility issues with the latest Mac OS. So far the only answer I got was : "Please, reinstall the software". Also Apple support team promised they will be in touch with the Shark RF development team and let me know if a solution was available. Onwards...

I did the same thing. Open the package content of the SharkRF link application folder, find the exec file and open it with the terminal. The terminal will prompt authorization for the microphone. Then the app will transmit audio. I even created an automation that opens the app that way. Now using the sharkRF link app on Ventura 13.5.1.

Glad that there is a fix, I wonder if this is an Apple bug, it should allow authorising the mic permission however you start the app.

Apple says that is is an App bug. The app should have prompted the mic permission at install like many other do.

We're happy that it works now. The app calls the mic permission request on startup and it works on our test machines...
