Hello Community,

I have trouble connecting to my OpenSpot 4 Pro from my iPhone 15 Pro with the SharkRF smartphone app. Connecting to the web interface works fine but connecting with the app in order to listen or speak fails (see attached screenshots). In rare cases the connection is working but in 95% it's not. After a connection fail the OpenSpot's LED is flashing BLUE and RED and I need to turn it off and on again.

Does anyone have an idea what the problem could be?

I get the same error when trying to use the App on an IPhone 15 Pro (Playback Device Changed)
powered the OS4P off and back on, no change.
Does anyone have a successful connection from an IPhone 15Pro to an OS4P via the App?

Ditto, no luck using the 15 Pro Max.

I plan to have the SharkRF app on an iPhone 15 Pro Max soon. Is the app still a beta version as indicated on the website. If it is a beta version, is there any actual organized beta testing occurring to get it out of beta?

Hello SharkRF - any reaction to this problem would be appreciated! I can not use my Openspot4 with my iPhone since a couple of weeks now. Would be great if you could fix this!

It did not work since a couple of weeks? Did it work before the last couple of weeks? I received the OpenSpot4 and will try to connect it in the next few days before more travel.

I just connected a new OpenSpot4 and Apple iPad on the hotspot Wi-Fi from my Android phone. I used the OpenSpot4 quick setup on my iPad (Firefox browser). Next I connected the SharkRF Link app on my iPhone 15 Pro Max that is connected to the same Wi-Fi as the OpenSpot4. I successfully completed an EchoTest on Brandmeister from my iPad and SharkRF Link app. I did not encounter any problems (yet). I hope this helps.

Same problem here. Worked fine on my old 12 pro, but not able to connect with new 15 pro max. Any solutions SharkRF team?

Still no fix for this issue? I have tried everything. Still cannot connect iPhone 15 pro max Hotspot to OS4. 🙁

Until the SharkRf team responds, are you setting up any different than what I described 9 days ago? I am using the OS4 with the app connected to the iPhone 15 Pro Max. If you are using the iPhone 15 Pro Max’s hotspot to the OS4 I am not sure that will work since the way I read the instructions, the phone and OS4 has to be connected to same wifi. I believe that the phone is not connected to its own hotspot, correct me if that is not the case. I put the iPhone 15 Pro Max and OS4 on wifi from a different phone (I have 2 phones) otherwise I would have used my Verizon Jetpack. My iPad Air is also connected to the same wifi and the phone and also works with the OS4. I do not know how it worked with your previous iPhone.

    Hello donh,
Thanks for your response! Background: I have no wi-fi at work, so I'm following the same procedure as with my old iphone 12. #1 Turn on HT, #2 Turn on OS4, #3 Turn on Hotspot (in discoverable mode) on iphone, #4 Either open SharkRF app, or sharkrf.link in Firefox or Safari, #5 Press wi-fi on OS4 (if needed). Most times not needed. The 'chain-link" icon would be present, all connections would work, and away I go operating.

Not an iPhone owner but I recall seeing that you need the maximum compatibility setting enabled on the phone hotspot, if it still exists in the latest iOS. Remember that the openSPOTs are all 2.4GHz only devices.

I understand now. I will try to connect the same way that you do. It will be a few days from now when I return from my trip.

Good point, the maximum compatibility setting may help. Also I found out that my normal 5 ghz WiFi setting did not work on OS4 during the setup and had to switch to 2.4 ghz.

Yep! My phone is always on max compatibility.

Hello SharkRF - any update on this? How can it be that such a crucial feature is broken since months and there is no feedback at all?

The Wi-Fi hotspot feature of the iPhone 15 is working correctly with the openSPOT4. The app however seems to be incompatible with this phone based on user reports. You should open the web interface of your openSPOT4 from the phone's browser using https://sharkrf.link/ instead using the app. We plan to release a new version of the app in a few months.

Hello @HA2NON thanks for your reply. I know that I can use the web-interface to access the Openspot. What I'd like to use is a feature, that is very important to me and was the main reason why I bought an Openspot 4 Pro: the ability to send and receive by using the mobile phone instead of a handheld Radio device. For me, it's currently super annoying that I can not use this feature anymore and it would be really great if you could bring out a quick fix for that!
